In order to thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization and promote the sustainable development of the maritime economy, Dalian Maritime Court, together with Dalian People's Procuratorate, Jinzhou District People's Procuratorate and Ocean Development Authority of Jinpu New District, jointly released 2.75 million shrimps into the sea near Luming Island.
Background
In August 2022, with knowledge of the fishing ban, Zhang and 9 others piloted their own unlicensed boats to the northwest of Ant Island to fish with prohibited nets. They caught a total of 432 kilograms of seafood which was worth 2160 yuan. After returning to the harbor, they sold the seafood to Cong. They got caught by the police. In 2023, Dalian People's Procuratorate filed a civil public interest lawsuit in Dalian Maritime Court, demanding that Zhang and the 10 others restore the ecology according to the restoration plan and publicly apologize in the media. Through the judge's patient interpretation of the law and reasoning, Zhang and the others paid 21600 yuan for marine ecological restoration and publicly apologized in Dalian Daily.
Releasing
On May 21st, maritime judges,prosecutors and some
staff of government agencies released a total of 2.75 million Chinese shrimps into the sea with the restoration fee. Some deputy directors of theNPC and members of the CPPCC supervised the entire process. The purpose of this activity is to restore marine ecosystems and develop a consensus for the protection of the oceans.
